Last Exam

Here's what the last several days of meals looked like:

11th - Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Green Salad
12th - Lentil & Tomato Soup, Salad, Bread
13th - Vegetable & Chickpea Curry on Couscous
14th - Salmon, Quinoa, Steamed Carrots
15th - Tofu & Mushroom Cabbage Rolls, Green Salad, Blueberry Pie
16th - Lentil & Tomato Soup, Salad, Bread
17th - No formal dinner.
18th - Leek & Potato Soup, Green Salad
19th - No formal dinner.
20th - Going out for dinner to celebrate D's last exam!
21st - I'm alreay thawing a huge chicken that we ordered from a local farm last summer.

What's with the no dinner nights? D was at school late both nights, so I ate miscellaneous leftovers and went for a run instead.

Breakfast is typically either oatmeal with frozen berries and almond milk or a yogurt and berry smoothie. Lunch is always leftovers.

This month has been relatively cheap on groceries so far: $220. Expensive months tend to be balanced out by cheaper months - must have needed a pile of staples like olive oil and flour last month.

D has finished his last exam. Now, in addition to being a red seal certified electrician, he also has a bachelor's degree. We made it through this phase of our lives virtually intact. Can't say that it wasn't a struggle at times, but our relationship is thawing as his school stress lifts from his shoulders.

There is so much goodness on the horizon. Two incomes, schedules aligned. We have never had this in our relationship. It's taken over six years to achieve, but I know that it's going to be worth it.
